DPRK Vice Foreign Minister Cho Sun-hee denounced US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's recent remarks about Pyongyang as "provocative and irrational" and said it would make talks with the United States more difficult.
On Tuesday, Pompeo made new, provocative comments: "We realized that Pyongyang's rogue behavior could not be ignored," while the DPRK described the US secretary of state's comments as a "poison poison" and questioned his attempts to resume talks.
"Pompeo has crossed the border in his own language, making the expected start of negotiations at the working group level between the DPRK and the United States more difficult," Cho Sun-hee was quoted as saying in a statement.
She warned that "Pyongyang's expectations of talks with Washington are gradually fading," stressing that "it is better for the United States to stop testing our patience with such remarks that arouse our anger if it wants not to regret the most remorse thereafter."
Talks between the United States and the DPRK on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula stalled after the failure of the second summit between Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump in Hanoi last February, while Washington continued its hostile practices and attempts to escalate tensions in the region.
