Damascus - SANA - More than 12,700 schools will open their doors tomorrow for students as the new academic year begins for all grades

Tomorrow, more than 12,700 schools will open for students as the new school year begins for all levels of education, with an estimated 3.7 million students enrolled in various governorates.

According to Ministry of Education figures, 3693778 students from different educational levels will go to 12791 schools with assurances that all preparations will be made to start the school year in terms of equipping schools, providing teachers and providing the educational process.

SANA monitored the preparations of the directorates of education, where the Director of Damascus Education Ghassan Lahham completed the procedures for the opening of the school year in 880 schools are expected to receive 361242 students under the supervision of 21212 teachers and teachers>

In Damascus countryside, Maher Faraj, Director of Education, pointed to the work to put more schools in service to accommodate the growing number of students, pointing out that the number of schools currently about 1580 schools and a staff of 34,507 teachers with an estimated enrollment 650,732 students.

1490 schools in Homs, which are supervised by 25,476 teachers, are preparing to receive 371,544 students, according to the director of education, Ahmed Ibrahim.

And to Deir Ezzor, where the Directorate of Education equipped 570 schools and prepared the formations of teachers, numbering 8,529 teachers to receive more than 100,000 students, according to Director of Education Khalil Haj Obeid.

Al-Hasakah also completed preparations, according to Education Director Ilham Sourkhan, to start the school year in 320 schools with a capacity of 86,179 students under the supervision of 6,695 teachers.

In Idlib, 760 schools are preparing to attract 250,609 students, who will be supervised by 9449 teachers, according to Education Director Abdul Hamid al-Meamar.

In the liberated rural areas of Raqqa “Sabkha, Maadan and Dibsi Afnan”, 130 schools accommodate approximately 23,294 students and supervised by 1497 teachers, according to Raqqa Education Director Abdullah Al-Hadi.

The Ministry of Education announced the postponement of the start of the academic year 2019-2020 to Monday instead of Sunday, September 1 to coincide with the holiday of the Islamic New Year.
