Thousands of protesters gathered around Hong Kong International Airport in the afternoon of Hong Kong, where protests against the government continued, and surrounded the terminal. The airport users were affected by building a barricade at the doorway, but the police removed it about two hours later. There has been no flight cancellation due to demonstration.
From the morning of the first day, young people in black clothes gathered at the airport one after another on the bus. Around 2 pm (3 pm Japan time), barricades were built with hand carts at multiple entrances leading to the terminal and shouted “Freedom in Hong Kong”.
One hour later, the police started to eliminate the demonstrators, and after scrutiny, the demonstrators withdrew from the airport premises. Some of the demonstrators were detained. Protesters continued protests in the city around the airport.
According to the airport, there was no cancellation due to a demonstration as of the evening of the day. However, the railways and buses that connect the center of Hong Kong and the airport have temporarily suspended, and as of 7pm, more than 2,000 people have been held at the airport.
