The singer filed a lawsuit against the clothing company and the spin-off beauty brand Riley Rose on Monday, alleging that they "stole" the singer's name, image and intellectual property "to promote their brands for free."

In the lawsuit, obtained by CNN, Grande's legal team alleges that the clothing company sought a sponsorship agreement with Grande in late 2018 and early 2019, but the request was “explicitly rejected due to Forever's unwillingness to 21 of paying fair market value for a celebrity of Miss Grande's height. ”

The documents allege that Forever 21 and Riley Rose published at least 30 unauthorized images and videos "misappropriating Miss Grande's name, image, similarities and music to create the false perception of her support."

The lawsuit includes screenshots of the Forever 21 Instagram that show images of Grande's work, as well as ads that show what the lawsuit calls a “similar model,” which has a hairstyle and clothes similar to those seen in the music video “ 7 Rings ”, made for Grande's song.

Some titles also included lyrics to Grande's song, the lawsuit says.

The images shown in the lawsuit no longer appear to be on the Instagram, Twitter or Facebook pages of Forever 21.

The lawsuit claims that Forever 21 left some of the unauthorized publications until at least April 17, 2019, despite requests that began in February to have all of them removed.

Grande is seeking $ 10 million in damages for copyright infringement, infringement of customary trademark and other alleged crimes.

In an email to CNN, Forever 21 said: “Forever 21 does not comment on pending litigation according to company policy. That said, while we dispute the accusations, we are big supporters of Ariana Grande and have worked with their licensing company for the past two years. We hope that we will find a mutually acceptable solution and can continue to work together in the future. ”
