Caracas-Sana

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has ordered his country's military to be on alert in states bordering Colombia to counter Colombian government threats of military aggression against Venezuela.

"The national armed forces and all military units on the border have been alerted against Colombia's threat to attack Venezuela," the Venezuelan Telesur television quoted Maduro as saying on state television. Led by Ivan Duque, she wants to accuse Venezuela of being the cause of a 70-year-old war in Colombia without evidence.

Maduro ordered a military exercise under the slogan "Peace and Sovereignty" to be held from 10 to 28 September in the states of Zulia, Tachira Aborre and Amazonas, which borders Venezuela and Colombia.

Caracas broke off diplomatic ties with Bogota in February after Colombia recognized right-wing opposition leader Juan Guaido as interim president.
