Deputy Foreign Minister and Expatriates Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad received this afternoon the new Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in the Syrian Arab Republic, whose credentials were presented to the Deputy Minister.

Dr. Miqdad welcomed the new representative of the program in Syria, stressing the importance of continuing constructive cooperation between the Syrian government and the program, which is one of the first UN programs in Syria.

During the meeting, the Deputy Foreign Minister stressed that the program should return at this stage to focus on development issues and achieve sustainable development in Syria, especially after the victories achieved in its war against terrorism and restore security and stability to most parts of Syria, which would push real development towards Forward to be a transom to the reconstruction phase.

He also stressed the importance of taking into account the principle of professionalism, impartiality, independence and avoiding politicization in its work.

For her part, Al-Khalidi expressed her high appreciation for the confidence given by the Syrian government by agreeing to appoint her to this position, stressing that the program will continue to cooperate with the Syrian government to push forward the development process.

The new representative of UNDP indicated that she would seek to intensify the efforts of UNDP to meet the needs of the Syrian people.
