Deputy Foreign Minister and Expatriates Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad met with Russian President Vladimir Putin's Commissioner for Children's Rights Anna Kuznetsova and the accompanying delegation.
The two sides stressed the friendly relations and partnership between the two countries in various fields, especially in the field of humanitarian work and fighting terrorism in Syria.
Dr. Miqdad gave the Russian delegation a detailed presentation on the latest developments related to the fight against terrorism and the suffering of children in areas under the control of terrorist groups, referring to the disastrous situation of displaced children and women in the Houl camp.
Al-Miqdad praised the Russian Federation's interest in the return of Russian children in Al-Houl camp in coordination with the Syrian state, in contrast to some Western countries that shirk their obligations under international humanitarian law.
For her part, the Russian President's Commissioner for Children's Rights highlighted the importance of cooperation shown by the Syrian side to facilitate the safe and healthy return of Russian children in Syria, praising the humanitarian efforts made by the Syrian government to alleviate the suffering of children due to terrorism in Syria and affirming the Russian Federation's keenness to preserve the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic.
The meeting was attended by the Syrian side Abdul-Moneim Annan, director of the organizations department, Osama Ali, deputy director of the office of the deputy minister, Khawla al-Yousef from the organizations department, Zina Ali from the deputy minister's office, Russian side Eldar Gurbanov, charge d'affaires of the Russian embassy in Damascus, and Elbrus Kotrashev, director of the Syria department in the Middle East Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry.
