Egyptian forces have killed six terrorists during an exchange of fire inside the desert depth of the Bahariya Oasis in the Western Desert of Egypt.
Al-Ahram portal quoted the Egyptian Interior Ministry as saying in a statement today that "information reached to the national security sector reported the presence of a group of terrorist elements fleeing in one of the areas within the desert depth within the scope of the Bahariya oases and taking it as a hideout there as a starting point for carrying out its hostilities."
The statement pointed out that "the area was raided at dawn today and the terrorist elements opened fire on the Egyptian forces, prompting them to deal with the source of fire, killing six of these elements were found in possession of various weapons."
The Egyptian army has been waging a campaign to wipe out terrorists in the country, especially in the Sinai peninsula.
