The activities of the Central University Sports Championship for Badminton, Table Tennis, Tennis and Chess kicked off today by the Central Sports Activity Office at the Executive Office of the National Union of Syrian Students at the University of Aleppo with the participation of 13 public and private universities.
SANA's camera coincided with the opening of the championship of tennis and badminton held in the railway club in Aleppo, where Bahaa Abbasi, supervisor of games in the National Union of Syrian Students, said that the tournament is witnessing a wide participation of public and private universities and institutes and teams were divided into groups to play the league.
Mohamed Mojtaba Hallak, from Tishreen University branch, and a tennis player, stressed the importance of holding the championship in Aleppo to activate the sports movement after a break for years, citing good organization, hoping to return all sports activities to the province.
The student Yafa Jaber from Hama University said that her first participation in the game of table tennis, pointing to the importance of the championship in achieving interaction between the participating teams, while Ahmed Khalousi, supervisor of the championship that the levels of participating teams are good and include competitions male singles and singles female and male and female doubles and mixed doubles so that It includes all the badminton competitions in this tournament, adding that this meeting is the first activity of the badminton in Aleppo since 2010, an initiative that resonates with athletes.
She explained to Bababa Shawaf, a member of Aleppo University branch of the National Union of Syrian Students, that the return of security and safety in Aleppo contributed to the establishment of the championship and all preparations were made for its success in terms of accommodation, organization, equipping halls and selecting referees.
Student Ghina Rustom of Baath University said that the championship is an important opportunity to gain experience and identify the participating teams and achieve good results for the university they represent, while Ammar Al-Farra, head of the sports activity branch of the University of Hama, the National Union of Syrian Students said that the goal of participating in the tournament is to activate the social and cultural situation between Students.
Diana Adam, a participant in the chess tournament from Hama University, said that it represents the name of her university and that the tournament is an important opportunity to friction and improve the level of individual play, while Mustafa Sakka of Al-Shahba Private University explained that chess is the language of reason and good sports and our ambition to achieve good results in the tournament.
The tournament lasts for four days.
