Handicraft artistic and heritage craftsmen from different governorates stopped visitors to Damascus International Fair in its sixty-first session to reflect the skill and mastery of the Syrian craftsman, who formed icons full of art and creativity.

SANA met with a number of craftsmen participating in the handicrafts pavilion where Mohammad Samer Bakdash from Damascus craftsmen pointed out that they are participating for the second year in a row at the Damascus International Fair by displaying their artifacts from the wooden heritage symbols of Damascene, which reflect a rich and authentic heritage such as the sea, the chair and the sword of Damascus, pointing out that Its products are 100 percent handmade except for laser cutting, and many want to buy them to decorate their homes and offices.

Yousra Eid, 63, explained that she displays her handicrafts made of natural silk, such as the traditional shawls that characterize the people of Hama and Masyaf countryside, in addition to paintings designed by worn fabrics in an attempt to take advantage of all the clips and recycle them in various forms.

Eid, who has been working for more than 30 years, said she was interested in raising silkworms that produce yarns, weaving and knitting them, making shawls and handicrafts to sell them in the market and improving their economic situation. A collection of paintings and handicrafts made of straw, fruits of plants, natural materials and wood are presented by craftsman Ali Ajeeb, an environmental friend who works to recycle things to get rid of waste and waste and produce useful and new things and gifts.

Ajeeb, who comes from Latakia province to participate in the exhibition, said he aims through his paintings to raise environmental awareness among the younger generations, noting that he was surprised by the high turnout of the exhibition, which he sees as an opportunity to support the local economy.

He added that the exhibition is a real opportunity for industrialists and craftsmen to get acquainted with the internal and external market to make deals and sell products.

In turn, craftsman Mohamed Said Karimo, who has been practicing his hobby in engraving and mother-of-pearl on wood for more than 35 years, explained that his participation in the exhibition did not stop and he continues to work, pointing out that it displays the orientalities that characterize the Syrians from a dining table, chairs and digging cart Fatmi inlaid with mother of pearl and pointed out that his participation in the exhibition To identify its products and find discharge markets, especially for visitors from outside Syria, pointing out that the eastern artifacts and small pieces attract visitors who carry with them and keep them as a souvenir.

A group of candles of different shapes, colors and sizes presented by the craftsman Imad Abu Bakr, who comes from Sweida governorate for the first time in the exhibition where he showed that his company is new in the market and his participation to advertise and promote them, pointing out that the Chamber of Industry has provided him with a lot of facilities such as accommodation, booking, tables and shelves to participate in the exhibition. The Damascus International Fair is the pride of the Syrian industry, which is becoming more and more shining day by day, pointing out that the prices are simple and most visitors want to buy them to decorate their homes and offices and give them as gifts on occasions and holidays.

Handicrafts such as mirrors and small bags made of hemp and burlap yarns offered by the university crafts Raja Hamdan participate from the province of As-Suwayda, where she explained that although she obtained a university degree, she found herself in this craft, which empties her energies and makes useful things for her and her family.
