(CNN Spanish) - El Salvador has, as of this Friday, an International Commission against Impunity and Corruption, CICIES, with the support of the Organization of American States, OAS.
The Commission, created by executive decree, will persecute "corrupt and also corrupters," according to President Nayib Bukele.
The Salvadoran president rejected that CICIES, depending on the Executive, be used for political persecution, one of the concerns expressed by some sectors because this agreement will not be ratified by the Legislative Assembly.
Together with the president, at the press conference in the Presidential House, the representative of the Organization of American States, Luis Porto, said that the criteria for selecting cases are technical.
"The criteria are technical and investigations are made under reservation, they are not public, we cannot anticipate the corrupt that we are going to investigate," said Porto.

For his part, the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, in his Twitter account said that CICIES is an institutional strengthening mechanism to fight corruption.
In a statement, the OAS confirmed that a Specialized Anti-Corruption Unit will be created in the National Civil Police of El Salvador that will be linked to CICIES.
In addition, the OAS will hold meetings with the Legislative Assembly, Supreme Court of Justice, Attorney General's Office of El Salvador and the Court of Accounts, as well as with civil society organizations to establish agreements and strengthen the final agreement,
