US President Trump announced on Twitter that he “stopped” the peace talks with the Afghan rebel Taliban. It was decided that 12 people, including one American soldier, were killed in a suicide bombing by the Taliban on the 5th in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. The peace talks between the US and the Taliban reached a basic agreement and were in the final stage, but Mr Trump's decision made the final agreement far away.
Mr. Trump also announced that he had scheduled to meet with Taliban executives, Afghan President Gani in the US on the 8th, but the meeting was also cancelled.
“The Taliban leader and the Afghan president were scheduled to meet privately with me at the Camp David Sansou (only for the president in the suburbs of Washington) on the 8th,” said Trump. However, after the 5th suicide bombing by the Taliban, he announced, “I immediately canceled the talk and canceled the peace talks.”
Mr. Trump further added: “The Taliban cannot agree to a ceasefire while continuing a very important peace talk (with the United States), and if it kills 12 innocent people, it can negotiate for a meaningful agreement. "I wonder if I'm going to continue fighting for decades?" And accused the Taliban of suicide bombings while continuing peace talks.
