[Washington 8th Reuters]-US Secretary of State Pompeo said on the 8th that the United States hopes to resume the denuclearization talks with North Korea within days or weeks. The talks have been stagnant since the second US-North Korea summit meeting in Vietnam this February ended in a farewell.
US President Trump and North Korean President Kim Jong-un, the Korean Labor Party, met again at Panmunjom in the demilitarized zone in the north and south, and agreed to resume business talks.
In an ABC interview, Pompeo said, “We know that Kim is continuing to work on the denuclearization commitment. In the coming days or weeks, I hope to get back to talks with them. "
North Korea recently launched several short-range missiles in response to US-ROK joint military exercises, but Secretary Pompeeo has shown that Kim has not broken his promise with President Trump.
He also said that President Trump would be very disappointed if Kim did not return to the bargaining table or conducts a missile experiment contrary to the agreement between the leaders.
