Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) issued a statement on the 7th and announced that the director of the university's media lab, Soichi Ito (53), told his intention to resign. Mr. Ito has received financial support from a US wealthy who was accused of sexual abuse of a girl, and two researchers have resigned in protest against this. Mr. Ito seems to aim to converge the confusion by resigning himself.

Mr. Ito's resignation was triggered by the discovery of funding for the lab and Mr. Ito from the wealthy Jeffrey Epstein. According to the US media, around 2002-2005, Mr. Epstein gave money to several girls for sexual abuse and built a “network” of girls who responded to their sexual activity. He was guilty of a judicial transaction in 2008, but after re-examination, he was arrested in July this year and committed suicide in a correction facility on August 10.
