Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu stressed that terrorist organizations in Syria pose a threat to other regions of the world, stressing the need not to allow terrorists to move elsewhere.
"We discussed the situation in Syria, North Africa and the Sahel because these two regions could become a new haven for terrorists, including those being defeated from Syria," Shoigu told a news conference after a bilateral ministerial meeting of defense and foreign ministers in Russia and France in Moscow today. Specific measures ”to coordinate efforts with regard to ways to stop these threats.
Russia has repeatedly called for an expanded counter-terrorism front with an international mandate, but these calls have not been heeded by the United States and many Western countries that have supported terrorist organizations in Syria, ignoring repeated warnings of a return to terrorism.
On the other hand, Shoigu announced that the normalization of the situation in the Gulf region is by refraining from interfering in the affairs of the region and not intercepting Iranian tankers around the world.
"There was an exchange of views on the issue of Iran and the situation in the Gulf region, which could be normalized in the event of non-interference and interception of Iranian tankers around the world, and then there will be no need to take any further measures to stabilize the region," Shoigu said.
The Gibraltar government announced in July that the British navy had seized an Iranian oil tanker off the rock site in the Strait of Gibraltar in a move contrary to international laws in the context of the economic war waged by America and its allies and tools against Iran.
On the other hand, the Russian defense minister strongly criticized the statement of his US counterpart Mark Esper, who considered that Russia should "act as a normal state adheres to Western values."
