Prime Minister Eng. Imad Khamis discussed today with the members of the Syndicate of Agricultural Engineers and the members of the union's retirement treasury headed by the Syndicate of Agricultural Engineers, Dr. Rama Aziz, ways to enhance their role in improving the agricultural sector, both plant and animal, as a priority in the work of the state and a major contributor to food security and economic development.

The Prime Minister approved the union to invest large areas of arable land that are not invested in rural areas in the governorates, and the union was approved to import all the requirements of the agricultural sector.

It was decided to prepare a national plan to train new agricultural engineers in the field of agricultural work and the establishment of a central committee for the pricing of agricultural products in cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform and the Union of Peasants and the Union of Agricultural Engineers and the Union of Chambers of Agriculture.

During the meeting, the union discussed the plan of the union to develop mechanisms of work and ways to enhance the union's investments so as to grant loans to expand its investment basket to include agricultural and food industries. It was agreed to provide the necessary support to rehabilitate the union's property and investments affected by the war.

It was emphasized to work within the framework of complementarity and partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture and the union to invest every meter of agriculture and coordination with the General Commission for Scientific Agricultural Research to expand the cultivation of drought-resistant and high-yielding varieties.

Engineer Khamis stressed the need to work with a new and integrated vision between the state institutions and trade unions and the development of an advanced work mechanism and plans are feasible from the reality, pointing out the importance of the agricultural sector to be the most effective during the current and future phases.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform and the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers.

In a statement to reporters, Dr. Aziz explained that the union is cooperating with the Ministry of Agriculture with regard to small and family agricultural projects and the development of modern irrigation methods and land reclamation, noting that a special schedule will be prepared for the investment projects of the union damaged by terrorism to provide the necessary government support for rehabilitation.
