Homs Electricity Company completed the work of networking between wind turbine generating electricity established in the lands of the village of Al-Sindyana village and the golden power conversion station, pending the introduction of the turbine in the actual production and supplying the plant with electricity.

The wind station, which was built west of Homs on the Homs-Tartous highway, is the first of its kind in Syria and was designed and built with national expertise and high accuracy match the international standards and is an important step in terms of securing renewable energies contribute to securing electric power and supplying the public grid with electricity.

In a statement to SANA's correspondent, Eng. Mosleh Al-Hassan, Director of Homs Electricity Company, stressed the importance of renewable energies in supplying the grid with electric power, especially if it is large and achieves economic feasibility for the public and private sectors, noting the encouraging legislation to establish electricity generation projects through renewable energies such as wind and solar energy. Hasia Industrial City has entered the actual production capacity of 30 to 300 kWh.

Engineer Bassam Al-Yousef, Director of Planning and Statistics at the company pointed out that the wind station is the first of its kind in Syria and it produces clean energy and ensures the operation of manpower, pointing out that it is carried out in two phases with a capacity of 2.5 MWh for each turbine where the first turbine was installed and connected to the Golden Station. Currently, performance tests are carried out by the specialized experts in the manufacturer to be installed at a later stage the second turbine with the same capacity.

On the choice of place for the installation of the turbine, Al-Yousuf indicated that several studies have been conducted Using sophisticated instruments, the wind latency was measured to determine the amount generated throughout the year and the possibility of continuity so that the wind energy to run the turbines provide the maximum number of hours during the year and several areas from Tal Kalakh area to Farqlus east of Homs were identified as the best wind areas.

Eng. Assi Al-Yousef, Head of Energy Conservation Department in the company confirmed that the applications submitted by investors for the establishment of alternative energy projects are being studied and provided with all the necessary facilities. There are 12 applications submitted for investment in a number of areas of Homs, some of which are under study and some have obtained the necessary licenses to start implementation.

Homs Electricity Company, in cooperation with Mashreq Green Energy Company, had developed two months ago a solar power plant project to generate electricity with a capacity of 300 kilowatts by investing in the industrial city of Hassia.
