Iraqi Ministry of Health announced that 31 deaths and 100 injuries were recorded today during a stampede for visitors during the Ashura ceremony in the city of Karbala.
The Iraqi News Agency (INA) quoted the ministry as saying in a statement that the number of victims of the stampede in Karbala rose to "31 martyrs and 100 wounded, including 10 in critical condition."
The ministry pointed to cases of suffocation among visitors because of the stampede.
