Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Oleg Smolenkov, described by the media as "an American spy" was working in the Kremlin administration and was sacked several years ago.
"Smolinkov really worked in the administration of President Vladimir Putin, but he was sacked by internal order a few years ago and he did not occupy any of the top positions because people are appointed only by order of the president," Peskov said today. All that the US media are discussing about pulling it out, saving it, and so on is a talk of imagination.
For his part, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that he had never met Oleg Smolenkov, who is called the American spy and did not see him while working in the Kremlin administration in Moscow.
The Russian minister said during his meeting with his Ethiopian counterpart: "For this citizen .. There was a comment today from the press office in the Kremlin .. I have not seen him or I never met him and did not follow his career or movements and I do not want to comment on these rumors."
Earlier, NBC claimed that the US spy, formerly working in Moscow, now lives under his real name and is under the protection of the US government near Washington.
