(CNN Spanish) - The Colombian Prosecutor's Office announced Tuesday that they captured two men who allegedly were the material perpetrators of the murder of Orley García, candidate for mayor of Toledo, in the department of Antioquia.
In a statement, the agency said that after 36 hours of investigation and reviewing several evidences, they could determine that these two people would have shot at Garcia and bought the ammunition for the weapon with which they committed the crime.
The operation was carried out in the rural area of Toledo, department of Antioquia. Both will be transferred to a guarantee control judge who will charge the charges for alleged crime of aggravated homicide, manufacturing, traffic and carrying firearms.
The Prosecutor's Office also indicated that preliminary investigations show that these individuals would have been sympathetic to a political current contrary to Garcia's, but that they would not have a relationship with any criminal organization.
The defense of detainees has not been pronounced until now.
Orley Garcia was killed last Saturday when he was on a campaign activity.
