The Special Education Institute for Hearing Impairment in Homs opened a literacy division for the deaf child at the beginning of the school year.

Director of the Institute, Mohamed Ibrahim, told SANA that 28 deaf children between the ages of 6 and 14 have been received in addition to 6 deaf children aged 10 to 18 who are currently being rehabilitated and illiterate. With their intellectual and educational level.

Ibrahim pointed out that children are accepted after determining the degree of hearing disability in cooperation with parents through the conduct of hearing planning where the degree of disability of most of the admitted children above 80 decibels, noting that the institute is educating and rehabilitating deaf children under the supervision of educators and social and psychological specialists in order to integrate them into society and develop their abilities and employment By focusing on activities that enhance their presence, deepen their self-confidence and raise their morale.

The school confirmed that many of the illustrations were prepared voluntarily by the staff of the Institute after the loss of most of the equipment and aids due to terrorism and sabotage the headquarters of the Institute in the neighborhood of Waar in order to continue the educational process and the delivery of various concepts for the deaf child.

The two twins, Hala and Marah Hassan, from the third grade of primary school, were delighted to be amongst their peers.

The English language school Ramia Mansour pointed out that the cognitive and cognitive development of deaf children is less than their healthy peers and to varying degrees where they communicate with them in sign language and lip reading when they speak with the use of images, drawings and consensus. It is noteworthy that the educational process has resumed in the temporary headquarters of the Institute on the road of Hama in Homs two years ago and is currently rehabilitating its main headquarters in the Waar neighborhood in preparation for his return.
