New York-Sana
Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Majid Takht Rawanji has confirmed that the United States violated the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) by renouncing relevant international agreements and conducting nuclear explosions, some of which are underground.
Speaking at a high-level meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York yesterday, Takht Rawangi stressed that the responsibility for banning any type of nuclear explosive test should be collective and lies primarily with the nuclear-weapon states. Unfortunately, some of these countries are responsible for creating the current conditions of the arms race.
The best example of shirking this responsibility, he said, appears in reports that the United States is not seeking to ratify the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) and also resumes testing of nuclear explosions, including those carried out underground, in clear violation of the NPT. .
He pointed out that such irresponsible policies and the latest of America's exit from the Treaty banning nuclear missiles medium and short-term harmful to all international efforts in the context of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.
This is essential to maintain peace and security, especially in a region such as the Middle East, where Israel's nuclear weapons are a threat to peace and security in the region and beyond.
He pointed out that the complete elimination of these weapons is a moral imperative and an explicit responsibility, expressing the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to play its role in pursuing this valuable goal.
