(CNN Spanish) - A group of women who make up feminist organizations concentrated on Monday afternoon in front of one of the headquarters of the Attorney General's Office in El Salvador.

The women disagree with the appeal that the Prosecutor's Office presented on Friday against the acquittal in favor of Evelyn Hernández, accused of the death of her baby after an out-of-hospital birth in 2016.

Feminist organizations believe that the appeal of the acquittal is a "criminal prosecution" for Evelyn.

Prosecutors filed the appeal with the judgment court in Cojutepeque, which carried out the trial, but the analysis of the appeal filed will be in charge of the second Criminal Chamber of Cojutepeque.

The Prosecutor's Office expects magistrates to order a new trial. Hernandez, 21, who has pleaded not guilty, has insisted she didn't know she was pregnant.

However, the Prosecutor's Office does not believe in that version because it has the testimony of a health promoter who reported that she recommended Hernández, on three occasions, to start her pregnancy control in a health unit.

On the other hand, Bertha Deleón, lawyer of Hernández criticized the appeal presented by the Prosecutor's Office.

"Shame that they insist on criminally prosecuting a woman, without evidence that she committed a crime," he wrote on his Twitter account.

Hernández was sentenced to 30 years in prison for this case in 2017. However, in December 2018, the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice annulled that sentence and ordered that it be repeated.

Last August, after several suspensions, it was carried out and Hernandez was acquitted.

The Prosecutor's Office said that CNN that if the criminal chamber does not order a new trial, it will go to the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice.
