[Washington, 10th Reuters]-The US Department of Commerce has tentatively announced that ceramic tile manufacturers in China have received an unfair subsidy from the government of the country. Announced to impose tariffs of about 104-222%.
In May, the Ministry of Commerce began investigating suspected government subsidies and dumping (unfair sale) for Chinese tiles. This is a tentative decision on subsidy offset duties, and the decision on anti-dumping duties is still ahead.
The Ministry of Commerce is likely to add a subsidy countervailing duty because it is proposing to set a temporary anti-dumping duty at 127-356%.
The final result of the survey is expected to be revealed around January 21 next year.
The current tariff on Chinese tiles is 25%. It is planned to be raised to 30% on October 1. These tiles are used on residential floors and walls, and are popular products among major home centers such as US Home Depot <HD.N>, Loews <LOW.N>, and Floor & Decore <FND.N>. Last year's import value was about $ 483.1 million.
