The Chinese Foreign Ministry summoned the German ambassador in Beijing to protest against Berlin's interference in China's internal affairs after German Foreign Minister Haiku Mas met with a Hong Kong dissident.

"The Chinese Foreign Ministry summoned the German ambassador in Beijing," Wu Qin, the Chinese ambassador to Berlin, told reporters.

Wu pointed out that MAS's meeting with Joshua Wong in Berlin "will have a significant negative impact on bilateral relations" between China and Germany.

On Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying reiterated her warning to the United States and Western countries not to interfere in Hong Kong's internal affairs, saying: "We hope that Americans and Westerners will withdraw their black hands from Hong Kong as soon as possible."
