(CNN) - Monica Iken-Murphy wanted her husband, who died in the attacks of September 11, 2001, to be always part of her life. That's why he used the diamonds on his wedding ring to create a new one when he remarried.

Now, she asks for the return of her ring and two diamond bands that disappeared last month after she left them on the bedside table in a house rented by a co-worker in Westhampton, New York. Iken-Murphy said he reported the disappearance of the rings to Southampton police, who investigates them as stolen.

She offers a reward of $ 500, but will give any amount of money for her return.

"I just need my rings," Iken-Murphy told Lynn Smith of HLN on Wednesday. “It's not about money for me. It's about how significant they are and how important they are. ”

Iken-Murphy met her late husband Michael Iken on September 11, 1999. They were married for 11 months when Iken, who worked as a bond seller at Euro Brokers on the 84th floor of the South Tower of the World Trade Center, died at the terrorist attack. He was 37 years old.

He called her the day of the attacks to tell her everything was fine.

"The last thing he said was 'people are jumping out the window, I have to go,'" Iken-Murphy said in a video he posted on Twitter.

Years later, he fell in love with Bob Murphy, a New York firefighter. They got married in 2006.

Iken-Murphy said he designed the new wedding ring with the diamonds in the ring that Michael Iken gave him to make sure he was always part of his life.

Her new husband lost other fellow firefighters on September 11 and understood her desire to bring the spirit of Iken to their union.

"I did not choose the tragedy in my life," he told CNN in an interview. “I didn't move on. I followed the life they gave me. ”

Even the Pope blessed the rings at a ceremony in Ground Zero in 2015 that Iken-Murphy attended with his two young daughters.

Iken-Murphy celebrated her late husband's birthday on Sunday in Ground Zero with her favorite Merlot. I would have turned 55.

"I do everything in his honor, I carry his spirit and his legacy so that my girls ... can continue it for me," he said of his daughters, Madison, 13, and Megan, 11.

Iken-Murphy said the ring is "a symbol of the love I had for Michael and the love I have for my husband," she said.

She hoped to pass the ring to her daughters. That way, love will continue, he said.

"They will always have that ring of the union of two souls," he added.

Anyone who has the rings or information about them should call Ray at (347) -742-0431.
