In the SPD competition for the party leadership, the junior organization for the team of candidates Saskia Esken and Norbert Walter-Borjans speaks. The Federal Board unanimously support the candidacy of members of the Bundestag from Baden-Württemberg and the ex-Minister of Finance of North Rhine-Westphalia, said the Jusos.
Esken and Walter Borjans stand for a "clearly fairer distribution policy," said Juso CEO Kevin Kühnert. He had already spoken out last week for the duo, which had been nominated by the North Rhine-Westphalian State Board.
The attitude to distributive justice is seen by the Jusos as "the crucial question of the programmatic renewal of the SPD". Esken and Walter-Borjans trust them to live up to expectations.
You advertise for a duo, but do it "in respect of the other candidates, with whom we often work well together and enrich the process". The members were - "how could it be otherwise" - freely in their choice decision.
Candidate for party presidency
The new party leaders will be determined by a member vote in the second half of October. Until then, the seven candidate duo and a single candidate present themselves at 23 regional conferences of the base. (An interim review of the conferences can be read here.)
