(CNN Spanish) - This Thursday was the second day of the first declaration hearing against former presidential candidate Sandra Torres, who must remain in pretrial detention during the hearings while determining whether she should face trial.

Torres arrived very early in court, with dark glasses and a sling that covered his left arm. The former former lady also arrived in the middle of a strong security device.

The Special Prosecutor's Office against impunity asked Torres to be linked to the process, whom he accuses of having received the equivalent of US $ 650,000 in 2015, through seven contributions, which, according to the Prosecutor's Office, were not reported to the Supreme Electoral Tribunal.

The evidence presented by the Public Ministry includes more than 100 talk interventions between Torres and others involved in the process. Also documents and bank movements that, according to prosecutors, prove that the former candidate of the National Unity of Hope Party committed unregistered electoral financing and illegal association.

Torres refrained from testifying before the judge this Thursday. Nor has he ruled on his case since his arrest in February this year, when the Prosecutor's Office accused her, but he did speak with CNN and rejected the charges. This Thursday, through a statement, the Sandra Torres party demanded a fair trial and demanded a dignified treatment for her for her leader.

The defense had requested medical attention for Torres because of a discomfort in his left shoulder. The judge ordered forensic exams at the last hearing and on this occasion said the results do not merit Sandra Torres being transferred to a hospital.

The magistrate ruled that the former presidential candidate must remain in pretrial detention in Mariscal Zavala jail until September 20, when the hearing is resumed for the defense to render its allegations. After that, the judiciary will determine whether or not Torres should be linked to trial and face trial.
