In a statement to its president, Rev. Joseph Katsav, the council also denounced "religious fundamentalism" that promoted terrorism in the east. "The evangelical churches in our east are the churches of Boutros Bustani, Fares al-Khoury, Kamal Nasser and others who have given lessons in patriotism, citizenship and martyrdom," he said.

The statement pointed out that these delegations should be called what they really are (Christian Zionism), stressing that the evangelical churches in Syria and Lebanon have no reference outside their homelands where they live and share with other people of the homeland his concerns and issues and aspirations.
