[Washington 13th Reuters]-The US Treasury Department said that North Korea ’s hackers “Lazarus” supported by the North Korean government as being involved in a cyberattack by a ransom demand virus “WannaCry” Three groups of “Brunorov” and “Andariel” were designated as sanctions.

The Ministry of Finance pointed out that the three groups were "involved in malicious cyber attacks to promote the development of unauthorized weapons and missiles." He said, “We will maintain the existing US and UN sanctions against North Korea and cooperate with the international community to improve cybersecurity in financial networks.”

All three US-related assets of the three groups are subject to sanctions, as well as foreign financial institutions that deliberately help trade or provide services for these groups.

According to the Ministry of Finance, Lazarus was involved in cyber attacks using Wana Cry in 2017 in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the UK. The impact has spread to at least 150 countries. In 2014, Sony also launched a cyber attack on Sony's US subsidiary Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Brunolov is said to have stolen about 80 million dollars from Bangladesh central bank in cooperation with Lazarus.

Andariel also seems to have stolen bank card information and withdrawed cash and sold personal information illegally.
