(CNN Spanish) - It is the great global economic issue of recent times and will continue to be until somehow the very unfortunate escalation of trade wars opened by the Trump administration from the White House stops.

Last week, Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's Analytics, estimated that since these wars have opened they have led to the loss of 300,000 jobs in the United States alone. And he predicted that this amount will increase to 450,000 jobs by the end of 2019.

But it is that the issue that Zandi cited is only one of the many negative facets, which are definitely increased with consequences of all kinds and conditions and for all corners of the world. The global economic slowdown from Europe to Latin America, obviously passing through China and the surrounding countries, is the most obvious.

That is why we have dedicated our GlobeEconomy this week to continue deepening the issue, and this time to try to analyze how that “China-United States” trade war specifically affects our region, Latin America. An exercise we have done with the help of Joydeep Mukjerhi, director of Sovereign Ratings for Latin America at Standard & Poor's / S & P Global.

Mukjerhi, among many other interesting aspects of the conversation, makes us notice the "marked impact of trade wars in economies with low economic growth," as is the case in many countries of our region.

It is indeed the case that the impact on occasions of these wars is relatively marginal, but that “marginality” becomes more noticeable or painful in economies that, for whatever reason, are already growing very little. As I say, a rigorous analysis that I hope you find of interest.
