Algerian Interim President Abdelkader Bensalah signed today the Law on the Independent National Electoral Authority and the Electoral System Law.

"The signing came after all the conditions stipulated in the constitution have been met and after the Constitutional Council has expressed its opinion on these laws," the presidency said in a statement.

Bin Saleh ended the duties of the Secretary General of the Independent High Authority for the Monitoring of Elections Fouad Makhlouf and appointed Mohamed Sharafi, the former Minister of Justice in his place.

Sharafi said that the tasks of the Authority are concentrated in "embodying and completing the building of the state and that citizens enjoy their full rights without any restriction except as required by law."

The Algerian "Dialogue" had called a few days ago in a report handed to the interim president to hold presidential elections as soon as possible.
