DAMASCUS, (SANA) - The Excellence and Creativity Commission has announced an award for young researchers who were not older than 35 years

The Excellence and Innovation Commission announced an award for young researchers who did not exceed the age of 35 years of the sons of Syria or their equivalents in the name of “Dr. Farqad Ramadan Award” to simplify science 2020, one of the founders of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad.

Hala Dakkak, head of the Excellence and Innovation Authority, said in a press conference at the Authority's building in Damascus that the Young Researchers Award will be an annual recognition of the late Farqad Al-Ramadan.

Al-Dakkak pointed out that the first-place winner is awarded a prize of 500,000 Syrian pounds, while the prize's shield and certificate are awarded to the first, second and third places, as well as the rest of the participants certificates proving their participation in the competition.

The award encourages young researchers to present their scientific research in the field of simplifying science by choosing a scientific topic.The researcher begins by explaining the concepts that he uses in a very simplified manner and without assuming the previous knowledge of the reader to reach deep understanding of the targeted concepts in his study and can ensure that his study advanced applications.

Regarding the conditions that must be achieved by the scientific work submitted to the competition, Imran Quba, head of the Scientific Committee of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad, said that the scientific work should not be less than five thousand words and not more than twelve thousand words and that it meets the conditions of scientific work in terms of the integrity of the curriculum and the sequence of ideas. Refer to the relevant literature and the integrity of the language and not be a scientific thesis “Master or Ph.D.” whether published or unpublished or part of a thesis approved or submitted for this purpose and not be awarded another prize and that the references are clearly written at the end of the research and referred to in the body according to Norms.

Quba explained that those wishing to participate should send their scientific work and the required documents in one e-mail containing the required attachments to the e-mail assigned to the competition from today until 15-12 2019.

For his part, the son of Dr. Farqad Ramadan Sameh said that the award will motivate the young man and inspire them to work to complete the march of the late Ramadan in the simplification of science and contribute to work to raise the level of scientific research in Syria.

It is worth mentioning that Dr. Farqad Al-Ramadani, one of the founders of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad, holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Damascus University and a Ph.D. in Industrial Computer Modeling from the University of Cardiff Wales in Britain. He held a number of administrative and scientific sites in Syria. Modern scientific concepts and the training of national teams in the field of physics in practical Olympics, leaving clear fingerprints and contributed to the preparation of a whole generation of outstanding students, including some who won medals in international competitions.
