(CNN) - While the political system in the United Kingdom remains in crisis over Brexit, a painting by Banksy of the House of Commons invaded by chimpanzees will go on sale in London next month.

Created in 2009, long before the term “brexit” entered the common language, satirical painting is expected to reach a price of up to $ 2.5 million when it was auctioned at Sotheby's in London on October 3.

It measures 3.9 meters high and is entitled "Parliament involved." It shows the banks of Parliament occupied by primates. It is the largest canvas known to the anonymous street artist whose controversial creations have earned him worldwide recognition. It will be exhibited at Sotheby's for several days before the sale, less than two kilometers from Westminster, where political chaos continues to reign.

The painting was first presented in 2009 as part of the innovative exhibition of the Banksy vs. Museum. Bristol board. Then, earlier this year, it was once again the center of attention for another presentation in Bristol to mark the date originally planned for the United Kingdom's departure from the European Union, on March 29, 2019.

At that time, the artist, famous for his black humor and political comments, offered the following explanation on Instagram: “I did this ten years ago. The Bristol museum has just shown it again to commemorate Brexit Day.

"Laugh now, but one day nobody will be in charge."

The quotation refers to the first time Banksy presented chimpanzees in his work. In 2002, he produced another large painting of a row of grim-looking chimpanzees in aprons stamped with the words: "Laugh now but someday we'll be in charge."

While the “Parliament involved” was not intended to be a comment on brexit, the issue has not escaped the attention of the artist since the 2016 referendum.
