The participation of Syrian writers and intellectuals in the book fair at the Assad National Library expands every year, whether through book signing ceremonies or accompanying activities.

In order to monitor this phenomenon, SANA surveyed the views of a number of female writers about the exhibition amid the current circumstances and its role in restoring consideration to the Syrian literature and intellectuals in particular and to the Syrian family in general.

The poet Ahlam Bennawi considered that reading takes on the importance of doubling the wartime and beyond, which makes the continuation of the book fair in Damascus a victory for the blood that was shed on this land as well as a necessity to meet the need of many, including books to accommodate all interests.

In the opinion of Bennawi, the exhibition reflects the brilliant image of the cultural mobility experienced by literature during the past years through the publications of writers and writers who have stuck to their land despite the war to become a cultural market for the Syrian family and an incentive to read after globalization tried to pull the rug from under the book.

Media writer Lubna Murtada described the book fair as the most difficult and complex task to face the political, social and cultural changes and to exercise an enlightening role based on balance and moderation bearing the Syrian Arab identity and its roots.

The poet Amal Al-Manawer looks with admiration for the people flocking to the book fair because reading has a special flavor that surpasses any other way of receiving information provided by technology, stressing that the exhibition shows the interest of the official institution to highlight the best in our culture during the war and our ability to build and overcome difficulties.

Al-Manawer noted the large presence of the book published by Syrian intellectuals and writers during the war in the exhibition booths.

Children's writer and editor-in-chief of Shama magazine, Areej Bawadkji found that the book fair resembles a wide space where Syrians breathe in all their segments of thought, culture and interest under the shadow of thought and reason.

This cultural ritual par excellence in the words of Bawadkji with the presence of attractive cultural activities on the sidelines of the exhibition restores the culture of our place in our lives after years of war, violence and terrorism and gives the opportunity for all interested in culture to engage in the cultural scene.

The poet Zawat Hamdo describes the exhibition with a message to the whole world that Syria, despite the horrors of the fierce war, remains the crossroads of civilizations and cultures, an affirmation of the continuation of life.It is also a qualitative leap in spreading intellectual and cultural awareness and found that the exhibition is an invitation to the Syrian family to return to the book and read.

The book fair, in the opinion of the poet Lina al-Mufleh, constitutes a literary cultural event and an annual literary forum that cares about the book and is concerned with it as a tool to spread culture and knowledge among different generations. It is a suitable place for lovers of reading and reading, and for those concerned with literature and culture in one place. .

Al-Mufleh noted that women have an important presence this year in the exhibition, whether by participating in literary productions or attending the exhibition and visiting its sections. This shows her role in cultural affairs and her effective presence and acceptance to enjoy all that enriches her tastes and gives her a wide space of freedom.

The writer Lamees Al-Zein aims to achieve the objectives of the Book Fair to spread the culture of reading to the readership at all levels for many titles and various topics, as well as an opportunity to meet with writers and writers, whether visitors or those who have new publications celebrated at the signing ceremonies.

The writer Dima Daoudi considered that the holding of the book fair in the Assad National Library is a clear message confirming Syria's victories, strength and resilience, as well as the support of the writer participating in the exhibition in terms of the spread of the name and the identification of participants from the rest of the countries in an era when technology and life problems almost dominated the importance of the book.

Daoudi pointed to the efforts of the organizers of the success of the exhibition because the Assad library was and will remain the first and best platform to restore the book to its true place.

The poet Awatif Barakat said that despite the passing of dark years of war during which the book fair stopped, it remains the celebration that the Syrian intellectual is waiting for to see the new publications and the acquisition of books at competitive prices in light of the electronic competition.

Barakat called for rebuilding an intimate relationship between the book in general and the reader by cultural organizations and to take the idea of e-book more seriously.
