Chavez opposition sectors sign pact with the Government of Nicolás Maduro

(CNN Spanish) - Political sectors of Venezuela identified as opponents signed an agreement to participate in a dialogue table with the government of Nicolás Maduro that contemplates the immediate reinstatement of the Chavez deputies to the National Assembly (chaired by Juan Guaidó) and the renewal of the authorities of the National Electoral Council.

The pact was announced by Deputy Timoteo Zambrano, elected by the Bureau of Democratic Unity (opposition), and Jorge Rodríguez, vice president of communications for the Venezuelan government.

The ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela and was attended by part of the accredited diplomatic corps in the country.

The apostolic nuncio, Aldo Giornado, was also present. After receiving a copy of the signed agreement, the highest representative of the Vatican in the country shook hands with Delcy Rodríguez, Vice President of Venezuela, Jorge Rodríguez, Vice President of Communications, and Deputy Timoteo Zambrano.

The attendees signed the “Agreement of the National Dialogue Table” that contemplates the “immediate” reinstatement of the PSUV section and allied parties to the National Assembly; a new conformation of the National Electoral Council; urge the justice system to agree on solutions for the release of detained political leaders; the defense of Guiana Esequiba (territory that Venezuela claims to Guyana); and propose the oil exchange system with inputs, food, medicines.

Among the politicians identified as opponents who signed the pact are Felipe Mujica (MAS Party), Claudio Fermín (Solutions for Venezuela Party), Deputy Timoteo Zambrano (Cambiemos Party) and Luis Romero (Advanced Progressive Party).

For the government of Nicolás Maduro they signed, among others, the vice president of the country, Delcy Rodríguez.
