President of the Tunisian Independent High Electoral Commission Nabil Pavon announced that 85 percent of the votes were counted and the final result will be announced on Tuesday.
"We have reached 85 percent of the count and we will announce the results on Tuesday definitively," Pavon was quoted by Tunisian media as saying at a news conference today.
He added that the Council of the Commission is meeting today to decide on the irregularities and abuses that we have observed since the start of the election campaign on the second of this month until the day of voting.
The results announced in the Independent High Electoral Commission this morning after the counting of 71 percent of the counting ballots in the polling stations inside and outside the country .
The preliminary results also showed that the businessman and leader of the heart of Tunisia, Nabil Karoui, got 15.4 percent to finish second with more than 249,000 votes.
According to the Tunisian election law, if none of the candidates receives a majority of 50 percent plus one vote, the two candidates with the most votes will move to the second round of the presidential election.
