In Afghanistan, a US soldier has been killed. This was announced by the NATO mission "Resolute Support" in Kabul.
Details of the location or the circumstances of the deaths were initially not disclosed by the NATO mission out of consideration for the family members. This has already killed 17 members of the US Army this year.
Just two weeks ago, a US soldier had been killed in a car bomb attack in the capital Kabul. As a result, US President Donald Trump surprisingly canceled further talks on ways to peace in Afghanistan with the radical Islamic Taliban.
Shortly before, after months of negotiations, both sides had shown themselves confident that they could reach an agreement to politically resolve the nearly 18-year conflict. Currently around 14,000 US soldiers are stationed in Afghanistan.
