The Cabinet approves measures to secure basic goods and requirements for citizens at competitive prices

The Cabinet approved a package of necessary and precautionary measures to achieve relative stability in the markets and to secure the basic goods and requirements of citizens at competitive prices and appropriate quality.

The measures taken during the weekly session of the Majlis, chaired by Prime Minister Eng. Emad Khamis, included asking the ministries of internal trade, consumer protection, finance, justice, interior and supervisory bodies to tighten market controls, combat antitrust, smuggling, opening illegal warehouses, confiscating smuggled and monopolized goods and selling them in the galleries of the Syrian Trade Organization.

The Board approved the executive mechanism for granting loans to employees worth LBP 300,000 distributed over six months without interest and without sponsors at the rate of LBP 50,000 per month, provided that the loan will be repaid over four years. .

The Council instructed the Ministry of Economy and the Foreign Trade Corporation to directly import non-locally produced commodities and materials and provide them to the Syrian Trade Establishment at the appropriate prices.

The ministries of agriculture, internal trade, economy and industry were tasked with identifying the goods needed to intensify their production locally, providing raw materials for industry and agriculture, and preparing a list of priority imports with funding from private banks.

In another context, the Council approved the plan of the Ministry of Information to activate the work of the Directorate of Development Media and its role in confronting the negative effects, repercussions and consequences of the war on various segments of society and sectors, spreading awareness of the culture of preserving public money and public utilities, spreading the values ​​of tolerance and cooperation, and rejecting violence and enhancing the role of youth in building society.

The Council approved the National Housing Strategy and the results of the conference organized by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing and the adoption of the general recommendations of the conference regarding the fair distribution of social housing and linking housing plans and projects with transport plans and projects and follow-up work to accomplish the investment map related to housing.
