Daraa City Council started installing solar lighting devices from Panorama Roundabout until 16 October Square as the first stage.

Khalid Al-Masalmeh, head of the works department at the council, told SANA today that the project is part of reducing electricity consumption and converting the street lighting poles to the benefit of citizens.

The initial cost of the alternative energy lighting project is estimated at 12 million Syrian pounds.
