[16th Reuters]-Trump's US government finally filed a lawsuit over a power plant greenhouse gas emission regulation “Affordable Clean Energy (ACE)” finalized in June this year.
The ACE claims that regulations have been greatly relaxed from the rules of the Obama administration, impeding efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The lawsuit was filed mainly by power companies and nine public service entities based in the state with many Democratic supporters. He filed an appeal with the Washington, DC Circuit Court of Appeals on the 6th of this month.
Nine organizations have been investing in renewable energy, electric vehicle infrastructure, energy efficiency improvements, etc. in response to the state government enacting laws requiring the introduction of renewable energy.
Participants in the lawsuit were Con Edison, Exelon <EXC.N>, National Grid <NG.L>, PG & E <PCG.N>, Public Service Enterprise Group <PEG.N>, Los Angeles City Waterworks Nine organizations including the Power Bureau. It serves more than 23 million people in 49 states.
In ACE, 22 states and 7 cities filed similar lawsuits in August.
The ACE was formulated to support coal companies that are forced to compete with renewable energy.
