150 publishing houses and Syrian institutions from both the public and private sectors celebrate the 31st session of the Book Fair through their various publications in many fields including political, literary, philosophical, heritage, scientific and academic.
The exhibition, which includes about fifty thousand titles in various fields, constitutes a state of friction and competition between the publishing houses and the Syrian participating institutions.
Among the participating institutions are universities and academic academies such as the Higher Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology. Dr. Khalil Khalil, head of the publishing department at the institute, told SANA, “We are participating for the fourth time in the book fair and the main purpose is friction and getting acquainted with publishing houses. In enriching the Arab Library with our publications specialized in the field of basic sciences such as mathematics, physics and chemistry. ”
He explained that the books provided by the pavilion are specific because they are concerned with the academic scientific aspect, which provides an important opportunity for all those interested in this type of books, such as students of scientific colleges and secondary stage coming to university and university professors, noting that this session of the exhibition was characterized by increasing the number of publishing houses for courses in years In addition to the large organization in the movement of visitors in and out and distributed wings.
For his part, Fares al-Araj, in charge of the Directorate of Antiquities and Museums, said: “The Directorate participates annually in the Book Fair to provide an opportunity for all those interested in the Syrian archaeological heritage of the Department of Archeology at the university and others to learn about the cultural and cultural heritage of Syria and the most important archaeological discoveries reached by the Directorate through its exploration missions. During the Directorate's publications of annals and magazines such as Archaeological Facts and Science and Restoration.
“This is our third participation in the book fair and we are a new five-year-old publishing house. The importance of the exhibition for us is to provide an opportunity to learn about the role of new Arab and foreign publishers.” In exchange of experience and benefit from the experiences of other publishing houses, especially we are a publishing house born during the war years and we need such experience to develop our work.
The 31st edition of the Book Fair, which is titled "Mind-Building Book", will continue at the Assad National Library until the 22nd of this month.
