Ali al-Khatib, director of consumer protection at the Ministry of Internal Trade, said that the rise in prices randomly and unjustified by merchants prompted citizens to submit written and telephone complaints to consumer protection directorates in all governorates, noting that 1119 supply controls were organized during the last week in the markets.
In a statement to SANA Economic Bulletin, Al-Khatib pointed to the focus of work on billing circulation among all commercial brokerage rings to support price stability and not to charge overpriced unlawfully, as 199 seizures and irregularities related to the circulation of irregular bills in addition to the non-circulation of bills stressing the control of meat markets in the shops Specialized and restaurants in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism was organized 30 controls related to cheating meat through mixing with unknown meat or spices and different flavorings.
Al-Khatib said that efforts to combat anonymous materials have resulted in a decline in the quality and quantity of these materials in the markets, which mainly include foodstuffs that are not controlled by health and are not traded through invoices and regular statement cards.
Al-Khatib pointed out to the increase in cases of complaints by citizens, which constitute an important basis to address the cases of violation and control markets and the application of the principle of partnership between the citizen and the concerned authorities in the follow-up and monitoring of violators, where 77 complaints submitted in writing and telephone about the non-compliance with prices and non-announcement.
