In cooperation with the Excellence and Creativity Commission, the 9th National Final of the Syrian Programming Competition for Universities “Pilot Phase” was launched today at Baath University in Homs with the participation of 75 teams from 20 Syrian academic institutions from governmental and private institutes and universities.
The President of the Baath University, Dr. Abdul Basit Al-Khatib, stressed the importance of the competition as it embraces the young university talents in the field of informatics and its standard of scientific competition in solving experiments and issues in the field of mathematical sciences, software knowledge and algorithms, which contributes to the development of programming science as a kind to contribute to the process of construction and reconstruction Its success is one of the most important scientific and university activities that support the younger generation.
Dr. Jaafar Al-Khair, Director of the University Program Competition in Syria, explained that each participant team consists of 3 contestants and a trainer, where the contestants work on one computer to solve a set of issues programmatically during 5 continuous hours to win the team that succeeds in solving the largest number of issues in the shortest time. And logical analysis of issues between students and the integration of science and knowledge to reach authentic solutions in addition to gaining a spirit of challenge and creativity and work as a team.
He said that the Syrian universities have become a specific weight and weight on the Arab level, where we won last year's Arab Cup, adding that the number of contestants with the organizers and participants in this competition is 500 people.
Nabug Yassin, Director of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad in the Excellence and Innovation Commission, pointed out that the Commission for the first time oversees this competition in order to create a kind of integration in the field of informatics starting from the small ages and youth and currently university to expand the competence of informatics and deepen them, stressing that the competition is a scientific, social and cultural event creates a state of interaction It adds value to the scientific content we want to reach.
