(CNN Spanish) - Peru achieved a new Guinness Record, this time, by preparing the world's largest artichoke salad.
On September 15, more than 200 people, including members of the San Ignacio de Loyola University, assisted in the preparation of a salad containing more than 1,500 kilos of artichoke, carrots, olives, peppers and vinaigrette sauce.
According to a statement published by the Guinness Record organization, the weight of this salad was 784.53 kilos (1,729.59 pounds) and was prepared on a tray 5 meters long and 1.5 meters wide.
At the end of the preparation, the salad was distributed to the public who attended this event that took place in the Plaza de Armas de Trujillo.
The purpose of this Guinness Record was to promote the consumption of artichoke in Peru, organizers said.
This is the eighth Guinness Record obtained by the San Ignacio de Loyola University, previously achieved the following:
