According to the bureau, North Korean fishing boats were found on the 17th in a squid good fishing spot in the central part of the Sea of Japan called Yamatotai. During the capture, the crew of one North Korean fishing boat resisted and four FSB members were injured. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called and protested the North Korean temporary ambassador to Russia on the same day.
In the Sea of Japan in the Russian Far East, 16 North Korean fishing boats were seized on December 12 for alleged illegal operations, and more than 250 seafarers were detained.
According to the FSB, more than 100 North Korean fishing boats were evacuated in early September in the Gulf of the Sea of Japan in the Russian Far East to avoid typhoons. Even after the typhoon passed, many remain in Russia's EEZ and continue poaching. (Moscow = Ryosuke Ishibashi)
