[Reuters, Washington 17th]-US Vice President Pence is optimistic about parliamentary approval this year on the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), a new trade agreement that will replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) He expressed his view that the new agreement would boost the momentum of the US economy.
In a lecture sponsored by the Heritage Foundation, Pence stressed that if USMCA is approved, jobs will be created and investment in the US will expand.
He also pointed out that President Trump will be able to negotiate more effectively with China through trade agreements. The idea of bringing North America together would support President Trump to correct China's trade practices over the past decades.
The USMCA also indicated that it was “very progressive and comprehensive” and could serve as a model for future trade agreements with the UK, the European Union (EU), Japan and even China.
