After the failed coup d'état in Venezuela, the deputy parliamentary president has been arrested. Secret Service officials Sebin arrested Edgar Zambrano on Wednesday and sent him to Helicoide Prison in Caracas, the National Assembly said. The agents had surprised him in his car and towed him in the car.
Zambrano is being investigated for treason, rebellion and conspiracy. He appeared last week in front of the La Carota Air Force base in Caracas with self-appointed interim President Juan Guaidó, ex-arrested opposition leader Leopoldo López, and several renegade soldiers, calling on the military to join the opposition ,
The coup attempt against President Nicolás Maduro failed, however, because the forces of the socialist government were loyal. In clashes between protesters and state security forces, at least five people were killed and dozens more injured in the following days.
