Hundreds of Palestinians took part in a solidarity pause in the West Bank city of Hebron on Monday to reject the Israeli violations against Palestinian prisoners.
Wafa News Agency quoted the director of the Palestinian Prisoners Club in Hebron Amjad Al-Najjar as demanding during the pause the International Red Cross to shoulder its responsibilities and pressure the occupation authorities to release the prisoners, pointing out that there are about 150 prisoners who joined the open hunger strike.
Al-Najjar stressed that the situation is very dangerous and the number of striking prisoners inside the Israeli occupation can increase significantly due to its arbitrary practices against prisoners, pointing out that the occupation holds five bodies of martyrs prisoners and has to abide by international conventions and release them.
Al-Najjar said that the prisoner Ahmed Abdul Karim Ghannam has been on hunger strike for 68 days and that his health is in continuous deterioration and suffers from stomach pain, chest and limb paralysis, in addition to suffering from cancer due to deliberate medical negligence.
Some 6,000 Palestinian prisoners are facing harsh detention conditions in the Israeli occupation, where 1800 prisoners suffer from various diseases due to the spread of epidemics and germs, including about 700 prisoners who need urgent medical intervention, especially cases of cancer, kidney failure and paraplegia.
