In the first six months of 2019, almost all positive asylum decisions throughout Germany were correct. This follows, according to a media report from a response from the federal government to a parliamentary request.

A review of positive asylum decisions from the first half of 2019 showed that the overwhelming majority was correct.

According to a media report, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bamf) has barely detected any errors or omissions in the first half of 2019 if asylum has been granted to an applicant.

In the six months 62,000 positive decisions were reviewed, in good 97 percent of cases, the need for protection was again affirmed, reported the "Süddeutsche Zeitung", citing a request from the left-wing parliamentary group to the federal government.

Submitted documents almost never faked

In 0.5 percent of the cases, the Bamf initiated a so-called withdrawal; This happens when asylum seekers have misrepresented or deceived. The status of protection was revoked at just over two percent because, for example, the situation in the country of origin has improved or a deportation obstacle such as a serious illness no longer exists.

According to the report, the Bamf also reviewed a good 32,000 documents submitted, of which 0.8 percent were complained of as distorted or falsified. How often these papers should fake a false identity or origin, the Federal Government is therefore not known.

The Federal Office has been criticized in recent years because of the long duration of procedures and especially because of a scandal in the Bamf branch office Bremen: There had been in hundreds of cases to irregularities in asylum procedures. On Wednesday, the prosecutor in Bremen brought charges against the ex-chief of the Bremen Bamf branch and two lawyers. The officials are accused of breaking the law in almost one hundred cases.
